RT Components for using MORSE Realistic Simulator for Robotics
RT Components for using MORSE Realistic Simulator for Robotics
Description
MORSE (Modular Open Robot Simulation Engine) is a realistic 3D simulator for robotics. It is a real time simulator which runs on Blender, a popular open source 3D computer graphic software. Originated and developed by LAAS-CNRS researchers, the MORSE is now used by many robotic laboratories in the world. A reason for integrating RT-Middleware and MORSE is to extend RT-Middleware support for many external libraries or applications. Another reason is that there are many RT-Components (RTC) which perform various algorithms for robotics, such as SLAM, motion planning, mapping, people tracking, etc. It is a good idea to test those algorithms in a simulator before applying them to the real robot. A realistic simulator like MORSE can help us to make a simulation as close as the real situation of the robot.

Example
We provide several examples using OpenRTM-MORSE and several available RTC, so that it is easy even for beginner in OpenRTM.- Let's Go Outside: Controlling Outdoor Robot Through Gamepad (level: Beginner) ==> make use the GamePad RTC from OpenRTC-aist
- Creating Environmental Map: Autonomous Indoor Robot Exploration (level: Advance) ==> setting up a complex simulation using several available RTCs such as SLAM RTC, Explorer RTC, PathPlanner RTC, Local Map RTC, etc.
License
We apply modified open source BSD license on OpenRTM-MORSE extension, however, it may change for each RT Component module. Please read carefully.
Acknowledgment
We use PyRTSeam by SEC,co. Ltd for rapid prototyping of RT Components (for Python version).
