Materials

Information for participants

We request that all tutorial participants follow the procedure below to prepare for the tutorial.

Equipment

To participate in the hands-on practice, you will need the following equipment:
  • A laptop computer.
    • Please confirm that your computer can connect to a network.
  • A USB camera or built-in camera. (Please bring your own camera if possible. We will have a limited number of spare cameras available.)
    • No matter if you are using Windows or Linux, your camera must be usable with OpenCV.
    • The following cameras have been confirmed to work:
      • Logicool Qcam® Orbit AF (a driver is required in Windows).
      • ELECOM UCAM-DLM130HWH (no driver is necessary).
  • A LAN cable.

Software

Please install the following software prior to attending the tutorial.

  • OpenRTM-aist-1.1.0-RC3 (C++ edition).
  • Eclipse with the RTSystemEditor and RTCBuilder plugins installed.
  • Development and packaging environment:
    • For C++ on Windows: Visual Studio 2008 (The Express edition is also suitable. Versions 2005 and 2010 are not supported in this tutorial.)
    • Java Development Kit 6 (necessary to run Eclipse).
    • CMake-2.8.5
    • Doxygen
    • Wix
  • OpenHRI components

Windows downloads

  • Applying the cmake-2.8-WiX-patch
    • Extract cmake-2.8-WiX-patch.zip
    • Copy cmake-2.8-WiX-patch\bin\cpack.exe into C:\Program Files\CMake 2.8\bin (overwrite the existing file).
    • Copy cmake-2.8-WiX-patch\share\cmake-2.8\Modules\CPack.cmake into C:\Program Files\CMake 2.8\share\cmake-2.8\Modules (overwrite the existing file).
    • Copy cmake-2.8-WiX-patch\share\cmake-2.8\Modules\CPackWIX.cmake into C:\Program Files\CMake 2.8\share\cmake-2.8\Modules (overwrite the existing file).

Linux downloads

This information is only for participants using Linux.

    • OpenRTM-aist-1.1.0-RC3 (C++ edition)

Downloads are available at the download page. Packages are available for major distributions such as Ubuntu and Fedora. OpenCV must be downloaded from the OpenCV website or installed using your system's package manager.
