OpenRTM-aist-0.4 Installation Overview

OpenRTM-aist-0.4 is provided on both Windows and UNIX with C++, Python and Java (However, UNIX-Java is being prepared). You can install by choosing one or more of them, depending on user's platform or required environment. In this chapter, we will explain installation overviews for six editions. For more details on the installation and download; links etc, please refer to the installation manual of each edition.

General Procedure for Installation

General procedure of installation is as follows.
  • 1. Prepare for the Installation (build and organize the installation environment)
    First, prepare to build and organize the environment for installation of OpenRTM-aist-0.4.
  • 2. Install OpenRTM-aist-0.4
    Next, install OpenRTM-aist-0.4.
  • 3. Install GUI tools(RtcLink, RtcTemplate)
    Finally, install RtcLink and RtcTemlate of GUI tools.

Preparation

Before installing OpenRTM-aist-0.4, you need to install or update some language executable environments, tools and plug-ins in advance. For your convenience, installers and installation packages are available for certain system environments. Please refer to the list below for detailed information:

Installing OpenRTM-aist-0.4

Installation procedure of RTC differs between each edition. Below is a list of the installation for each edition.

Windows-C++ Installer available. Possible to build from the source code when necessary. The development environments such as Microsoft Visual Studio are necessary in case of build
Windows-Python Installer available. Possible to build from the source code when necessary.
Windows-Java Copy and Paste after extracting. Currently, the source code is not available.

Installing GUI tools (RtcLink, RtcTemplate)

It is useful to install RtcLink as the GUI tool of OpenRTM-aist-0.4. In addition, we recommend that you install RtcTemplate as a development tool. Some of the samples of OpenRTM-aist-0.4 require RtcLink to be run.
